NEW! Instructions to Use your ORCF Donor Advised Fund to Take Part in Give Miami Day
Greetings! If you give in Miami-Dade County, you are likely seeing many appeals from the organizations you support this week for Give Miami Day – Thursday, November 20. Give Miami Day is a 24-hour online fundraising challenge hosted by The Miami Foundation (TMF) that unites the county to support local nonprofits and kicks in extra awards based on the amount of donations they receive on the day.
This has sometimes caused confusion for our DAF folks because the donations must be received by TMF on Give Miami Day to “count” towards the day’s giving totals that determine the match funds that go to your favorite organizations. Timing that from a Donor Advised Fund is challenging, so we’ve worked with TMF on a solution that lets you use the regular Give Miami Day platform and links you’ll receive from nonprofits and see on social media to give from your DAF.
This year you will be able to use the Give Miami Day website to direct donations from your Ocean Reef Community Foundation Donor Advised Fund in the regular check out process, and your gifts will count right away and help your recipient charities qualify for additional match funds. We’ll then process your gifts from your DAF as usual. Read on for instructions.
An Early Giving period was also added and is actually open now. Ocean Reef Community Foundation has been added to the Give Miami Day online checkout process as a payment option at givemiamiday.org. The default payment method is credit card, shown here …
ORCF Donors can use the dropdown arrows to select:
- Donor Advised (DAF) or Other Account, instead of credit card
- Institution
- Donor Advised (DAF) under Asset Type
- Enter Fund Name
- Relationship Manager name and email
*Enter ymikolay@oceanreef.com or foundation@oceanreef.com, ORCF will receive an email notification of the gift commitments you make, confirm them with you by email, and make the gifts to the charities you select from your Donor Advised Fund.
* If you do not enter the email address, ORCF will see gifts on a report from TMF in the weeks after Give Miami Day, confirm them with you by email, and make the gifts to the charities you select from your Donor Advised Fund.
