Best of Portugal: Lisbon & Porto / Seven Nights / Six People
What fun the six of you will have as you explore Portugal, historically seen as the “center of the world” due to its pivotal role in the Age of Discovery, linking Europe with Africa, Asia, and the Americas, a gateway to global trade and exploration. You’ll spend three nights in Lisbon and four in Porto, luxuriating in five-star hotels in the center of each city (3 double rooms/6 guests, daily breakfast included), treated to private transportation and guides for all the tours throughout your trip, and for your transfer from one city to the other.
On your Lisbon leg, you’ll spend one day visiting Sintra and Cascais plus Quinta da Regaleira, a 16th century manor house, as well as an evening taking in a traditional Fado dinner and show (a musical genre and cultural wonder that originated in Lisbon more than two centuries ago). When you travel between Porto and Lisbon, you’ll be enchanted by your stops in the waterside city of Aveiro and the charming medieval town of Obidos.
Just across the Douro River from Porto, your privately guided half-day walking tour of Vila Nova de Gaia (the hub of the Port wine industry), will include a tasting featuring that rich, sweet, fortified wine for which the region is world-famous, while another day will be dedicated to a trip upriver to view the Douro Valley itself, stopping for lunch and at two wineries for tastings. You’ll love your day visiting Braga and Guimaraes, two must-see cities in the country’s north, and you’ll always remember your dinner with paired wines at Porto’s renowned 2 Michelin star Antiqvvm.
