2023 All Charities Weekend is right around the corner (February 10 – 12) and that means we are putting the finishing touches on our auction item roster. The recent 12 Days of All Charities e-blasts featured just a taste of the incredible adventures and experiences we have in store.
Feedback in recent years is that Members really enjoy our First Dibs events and would like more of these opportunities to meet neighbors, make new friends and spend time with old ones while indulging in fun in the form of remarkable adventures, incredible food, delectable wines and more.
Each First Dibs item also offers a lower price point to contribute to and participate in All Charities while providing the opportunity to take part in an exciting event that’s sure to create great memories. These occasions, some out and about, and others in members’ homes, make up a large part of the foundation of our fundraiser and they are remembered fondly.
In response to this, we’ve added more First Dibs items than ever before. Here’s a taste of our current line-up:
Wine enthusiasts go nuts for the Napa Cult Wine Dinner with Master Chef Rich Rosendale. Hosts Mary and John Lee are personal friends with the winemakers of Dom Perignon and the finest Napa cult cabernets and will be generously sharing rare and extremely limited production wines.
Master Chef Wayne Carlisle and fellow cuisine creator Gus Hillenbrand are back in the kitchen by popular demand with Brunch with Gus & Wayne. Bellies will be busy laughing and filling up on delicious crepes, omelets and culinary decadence at the home of Fran and Wayne Carlisle.
Lobster will be flown in just for you from Winter Harbor, Maine, and served on Ocean Reef’s own Marlin Beach less than 24 hours after being caught thanks to Vicki and Alan Goldstein offering to bring back the Maine Lobster Bake this year.

Adding to our oenophilia and new to our First Dibs line-up this year are two wine-centric events; the first is an opportunity to attend a one day class and earn a WSET* Level 1 Certificate in Wine at the ORC Cooking School. Somm Day is finally here! The day you start your sommelier journey.
The second is the Paul Hobbs Wine Dinner. One of the most notable winemakers of a generation, Hobbs consults for high-end wineries on several continents and his eponymous production spans beautiful chardonnay, well balanced pinot noirs and decadent cabernets along with several other varietals.
Seats at the dinners of Chef Danny Grant and Chef Jennifer Brulé will fill up fast as well! Chef Danny Grant was the youngest US Chef to earn two Michelin stars in both 2011 and 2012 at RIA. While there, he also earned perfect four-star reviews from the Chicago Tribune and Chicago magazine. In 2015, he joined What If…Syndicate. Now, the award-winning portfolio of brands – Maple & Ash, Mavens & Aficionados, 8 Bar, etta, and Aya Pastry – are the center of a growing hospitality group. This dinner will be at the home of Anne Marie & Murray Peretz.
Chef Jennifer Brulé is a classically trained chef, food writer, TV personality and podcaster. Her recipes have appeared in Cooking Light, Shape Magazine, Fitness Magazine, Swiss News, The Augusta Chronicle and The Charlotte Observer, among other publications. She cooks live every week on NBC Charlotte, she has been a featured chef on CNN and is a contributor to the Huffington Post blog. With a quick wit and sharp palate, Chef Jen’s interactive dinner held at the ORC Cooking School promises to not only be delicious, but fun and entertaining too.
Limited edition or custom items you can walk away with include a Lester Lampert necklace made exclusively for All Charities (40 available), an Ocean Reef Club logo Rummikub (100 available) and a $350 custom package from Tom James (3 custom shirts or blouses OR a $750 gift certificate).

The festivities begin a week later, on Feb. 10 at the Wine & Bourbon Tasting & Silent Auction Showcase. Saturday daytime, features the Ocean Reef Chamber of Commerce’s Burgers, Beers & Bidding and a NetJets display. And Saturday night: Dinner, dancing and the Live Auction.
