The 18th Annual Catwalk Fashion Show and Luncheon was a smashing success yet again, raising much needed funds for ORCAT’s mission of managing a small, healthy working cat population and adoption center here at the Reef. The theme this year was Mission Pawssible, a nod towards the forthcoming construction of a new vet hospital and adoption center in the next few years.
Neiman Marcus put on a dazzling fashion show, with lithe models showcasing the best of Spring ’23. The show led with fan-favorite Paws on the Runway, with Ocean Reef members and their dogs dressed to impress as they sashayed down the runway to much applause. Henry Glidden, the dapper Havanese escorted by owner Eileen, was crowned the 2023 Pet of the Year. ORCAT kitten Comet made a runway appearance as did three rescue dogs, one of which found her forever family here on the Reef.
This year’s program was once again led by the dynamic duo of ORCAT chairwoman Luisa Bryan and MC Paul Bishop. ORCAT board member Annie Stamps presented the Penny Stamps Award to Dr. Lora Cummings in recognition of her tremendous impact on the pets and ORCATs at the Reef and her lifelong dedication to animals. Since starting at the Grayvik Center in 2021, Dr. Cummings has quickly become a beloved fixture in the community, tripling the number of annual appointments, expanding services offered to include dentals and minor surgeries, and always going above and beyond for the pets of Ocean Reef.
The ORCAT board and staff are grateful for the generous support of the Ocean Reef community and the Ocean Reef Community Foundation. Our beloved ORCATs are an important part of life on The Reef and we appreciate the generosity towards our treasured organization.
