Paws-itively Purr-fect: The 19th Annual Catwalk Struts Its Stuff

ORCAT is an ORCF Recipient Partner

Nearly 450 Ocean Reef Club members gathered for the 19th Annual Catwalk Fashion Show & Luncheon on Feb. 19, where ORCAT Chairperson, Luisa Bryan, announced the construction of a new Grayvik Animal Center. Set to begin this summer at Marina Drive and Gatehouse Road, the project has received initial funding from the Ocean Reef Club, the Ocean Reef Community Foundation, and the Ocean Reef Community Association.

The Grayvik Center, operational since 2006, provides comprehensive veterinary care under Dr. Lora Cummings, serving over 1,200 patients annually with wellness, diagnostic, surgical, and dental services. It also features a cat adoption center with over 3,000 yearly visitations. The current facility’s limited space restricts its capacity to around 2,500 visits per season, highlighting the need for the expanded services the new 6,000-square-foot, two-story facility will offer, including a modern veterinary clinic, grooming services, and an enhanced adoption center. Fundraising events like the Catwalk and tax-deductible donations will support the new facility’s capital costs.

A few All Charities related Catwalk highlights… All Charities own Lesa Crayne adopted adorable rescue dog Chloe during the Paws on the Runway segment and ORC Member Eileen Glidden and her dog Henry strut their stuff down the aisle as part of “Your Dog or Cat Crowned Pet of the Year,” a coveted item from the All Charities silent auction. The event also honored John Storm with the Penny W. Stamps Award for his support of the feline community and featured a fashion show by Neiman Marcus Coral Gables, presenting top designer spring collections.

ORCAT’s ongoing mission includes controlling the feral cat population through Trap-Neuter-Release programs, managing non-breeding colonies, and reducing the need for harmful rodenticides, contributing to a healthier, managed cat population at Ocean Reef.
